If surfaces intersect and internal forces are transferred on the contact points, an intersection must be created. This prevents the creation of independent, unconnected subsystems.
Intersection of Two Objects
Enter the numbers of the two surfaces that intersect. You can also use the button to determine the surfaces graphically.
Intersections (of possibly more than two surfaces) can be created quickly in the graphics: Select the relevant surfaces by drawing a window, or by multiple selection while holding down the Ctrl key. Then, on the shortcut menu of the selected objects, use the Surface → Create Intersection function.
Generated Objects
When creating an intersection, new nodes, lines, and possibly members and surfaces are created that belong to both surfaces.
Intersection lines are marked with a lock symbol in the 'Lines' table. The lock indicates that these lines are generated lines. The 'Edit Line' dialog box is also available for these lines so that you can assign member or support properties.
